 What Former Students Have Said

Hear what Con Law Students and Parents have to say!

“This class has been the most fun, educational class I have ever taken.  It is a must for anyone considering a career in politics or law.  This class showed me exactly how our government works and the estate of it today.  Thank you for a great semester!”

“When I started this class, I didn't know a whole lot about the contents of the Constitution and the way they are affecting today.  I learned a lot, and had a great time becoming an 'enlightened citizen'.  Given the choice, I would definitely take the class again.”

“Enlightened, Motivated, and Challenged....these words sum up my Constitutional Law experience.  As a homeschool mom of three, I wanted to take a course that would be challenging and satisfy my need for a much needed civics refresher.  I have learned so much and renewed my love for the history of our country, specifically the Constitution and how it's original meaning is just as applicable today as in 1789… Dr. Farris is a modern-day Founding Father with a love for the Lord and our country's history and future…  If you are considering this class but not sure, I say..."Just Do It!"  Don't be a talker, take action!  Your country needs you!”

“Constitutional Law was one of the most enriching academic experiences of my high school years. Even having previously taken American Government, I was struck with how shallow an understanding I had of the Constitution. It was incredible to learn about the landmark Supreme Court cases and their implications on our lives as conservative American citizens. Dr. Farris' passion for the law and for the history upon which our country was founded is very apparent, and also very contagious. As a hopeful future lawyer, I hope to be able to make an impact using the foundational constitutional truths I learned in this course.”

The best thing about the class 'Constitutional Law for Enlightened Citizens' is that no matter where you are going or what you are planning to be in life, this class applies to YOU.  It is designed to take ordinary citizens like you and me, inform them of what the Constitution says and how it applies to life today, and then put us back into the world ready to take a stand for our freedoms.  Before this class, I was not aware of how far away from the Constitution we as a Nation had gone.  Not only did this course open my eyes to this fact, but it has also repeatedly emphasized that the solution to our runaway government is in our hands. As the citizens of the United States it is our duty to keep the government where it's supposed to be. I'd say that this course is a must see for all of America.  America needs more enlightened citizens!

Thank you, Dr. Farris, for providing such a great course and giving generously of your time! The information presented was invaluable, and as well, I learned to predict how the Supreme Court will rule on any major issue (also how they are sometimes unpredictable by frequently reversing their own precedent). Most importantly, this course has increased my passion to study Constitutional Law and has given me a foundation based on original intent. Thank you again!

It was an honor and a privilege to learn at the feet of Dr. Farris.  I heartily recommend this course to anyone who wishes to be an involved citizen of the United States (and that's anyone, not just high school students; I know that several parents took this course).  A people unenlightened about their nation, its laws, and its freedoms, will lose them all - as is already coming to pass.  Whether or not you wish to pursue a career in law, it will benefit you greatly, and should spur you to a more active involvement in this, the last best hope of earth.

As the parent of teenagers, I am not the typical student for this class.  But that's the beauty of it and of Dr. Farris' teaching style; it is for students of all ages.  I took this class to learn Constitutional Law from a Christian worldview and it is invaluable for anyone who identifies himself as an American...understanding the document that our government is based on is vital!! Thanks again for a great, challenging course!

I really enjoyed this semester and learned many new things. One thing I learned is that I am grateful to live in this country because we have a Constitution which is to be cherished. I now realize the important of the Constitution and why I must continue keeping up with the news and events happening today.

I deeply appreciate the time Dr. Farris took on Monday nights [chat sessions] to be with us as we discussed the chapters. His experience and insight are beneficial to us in today's society... His lectures and book are wonderful learning tools.

Thank you Dr. Farris for the most inspiring class I've ever taken.  This class in Constitutional Law has been the highlight of my senior year (I chose to do this class on top of my already packed schedule and I'm so glad). I feel more prepared to face the claims of an ignorant society against our constitutional foundation. You brought me very close to deciding to study law, but I'm sticking with my original plan to be an English Writing major.  I'm sure this class will mold what I choose to write in the future.

I just would like to say "thanks" for creating such a great course.  Because I am an NCFCA debater, I have tried to incorporate the Constitution into my debate rounds.  You would not believe how much it has helped!  I now can argue off of the constitutional facet of the case, instead of just the typical arguments. It has helped tremendously!

I would like to thank you for all of the work that was put in to this course, for the time that was taken in answering my questions individually, and the individual attention that was given to the input and concerns of each one of us students.

I think what I appreciated most about this class was that we did not evaluate only the individual cases that we studied. To us was given the basis for interpreting the Constitution in a broad sense. The knowledge that was given us in this course is a foundation for evaluating future decisions, and basing that evaluation on correct Constitutional interpretation. Thank you, Mr. Farris, for the effort you put into sharing this class with us, and also for the time that you spent answering our questions in the chat room.

I must say, as well, that this class was great fun. Not only did we learn excellent material, it was enjoyable as well! Thank you all so much, and may God bless you as you continue to share ConLaw with other students.

. . . [T]his class has done a lot to prepare me for college and the “outside” world. First, it has greatly helped to improve my thinking skills in general. Because of its nature, the reading, though not discouraging, demands full attention to detail. Also, ConLaw has made me think very carefully about a lot of different issues that I might not have addressed had I not taken the course. . . . [and] given me a plot of the common ground necessary for an effective argument. Though I still have much to learn, I now feel that I have a . . . starting point from which to make a solid case for Biblical morality in government.

The course helped me understand, even though I’m not interested in becoming a lawyer, more about my rights and what law actually says, not what I thought it says. It taught me how to form my thoughts and ideas better, to identify legal concepts and terms, and to understand Supreme Court cases.

It’s worth it 100 percent. Very beneficial, whether you are considering becoming an attorney or not.

Constitutional Law gave me a deeper understanding of why this country was founded. Going through the course, studying cases, finding what the Constitution really says, and searching for where the Bible stands on current issues taught me principles and insights which I will use the rest of my life.

Thank You, Dr. Farris, for such a wonderful class. I have enjoyed every moment—well, except the last few when I was behind. You have succeeded in changing at least one mind. I had almost made up my mind that I was going to leave the lawyer thing behind; I didn't want to be stressed out the rest of my life.

"The best thing about the class 'Constitutional Law for Enlightened Citizens' is that no matter where you are going or what you are planning to be in life, this class applies to YOU. America needs more enlightened citizens!"

I deeply appreciate the time Dr. Farris took on Monday nights [chat sessions] to be with us as we discussed the chapters. His experience and insight are beneficial to us in today's society... His lectures and book are wonderful learning tools.

Thank you so much for teaching this course! It has opened my eyes to many issues that I was ignorant of and has given me an idea of what kind of decisions our elected officials have to make. I now understand how important it is to elect good judges. This class has been a lot of fun.

I wish to thank you for offering this course. I found the material interesting, understandable and many times entertaining. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to others and it is my great hope that it will still be offered ten years from now when my oldest child is ready for a course like this.

But now I think I would be more stressed out sitting around and not doing something about it. I'm really going to miss the class and the chats. Thank you again for such a wonderful opportunity, and most of all, for your time.

Go for it! It takes some time, but it’s worth it. You learn so much that you can use for the rest of your life.
